Overview
The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines and procedures. The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition performs manual work in the preparation, serving and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision. Assists student during meal service, ensuring health, safety, and school rules are followed, while circulating through the cafeteria. Prepares, cooks, and serves hot and cold food items, ensures correct portion sizes and menu items, and replenishes the serving line. Measures and records food temperatures; follows procedures for corrective action if items are not in temperature-safe zones. Sets up serving line with appropriate paper products and utensils and presents food attractively. Provides friendly, respectful customer service, acknowledges students by name, and encourages healthy food choices. Enters meal components correctly, documents emergency meal transactions, handles cash and checks accurately, reviews alerts for special diets, and follows end-of-day cash procedures. Receives, checks-in, and stocks food; checks-out food for production and organizes storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers. Maintains program accountability with compliance to federal, state, and local rules; records production, HACCP, meal accountability, and cash procedures in accordance with district policies. Circulates in the cafeteria to assist students, promote good table manners, and encourage balanced meals and trying unfamiliar foods. Assists SNS staff with student special diet requests and ensures correct food is served for dietary or preference needs. Assists with food tastings, offering samples to students and gathering feedback. Prepares and cleans "allergy-free" tables per established procedures. Maintains clean cafeteria tables and area, ensuring readiness for the next group after class dismissal. Ensures serving line is clean and that foods, beverages, and paper goods are properly stored; assists with overall kitchen, dish, and storage area cleanup. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience: Sufficient kitchen or cooking experience to acquire the knowledge and abilities described. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: None Language Skills: Reads and interprets safety rules and manuals; writes routine reports; speaks effectively before groups. Mathematical Skills: Performs basic arithmetic in the context of money, weight, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability: Understands and follows detailed but straightforward instructions; handles problems with a few concrete variables. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required. Physical Demands
Physical Activities: Walking, standing, stooping, squatting, handling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and keyboarding. Lifting: Up to 35 pounds. Reaching: Both hands, including overhead. Environmental Conditions: Noise level is high; exposure to extreme cold/heat and moving mechanical parts. Employment Details
