Minimum Offer $ 28.32/hr.

Maximum Offer $ 42.48/hr.

FTE: 1.00 Full Time Shift: Days

Position Summary Provide, oversee, and/or administer a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in a high‑intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision‑making and program administration. Lead and train lower level counselors/social workers, students, and/or interns engaged in related therapeutic/patient care activities, as appropriate. Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Detailed Responsibilities

Provide counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to clients and families as appropriate.

Prepare treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow‑up care programs.

Consult with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, referring clients to appropriate service agencies as required.

Provide and/or arrange for therapeutic interventions including emergency services and crisis intervention for individuals with serious emotional or behavioral disturbances.

Refer clients to appropriate social service agencies for financial assistance and other required services; may visit patients and families in their homes to provide counseling and outreach services.

Document and follow up to determine reliability of treatment used; modify therapy as appropriate.

Consult with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals in relation to patient/client records, rights, and responsibilities.

Prepare related timely documentation for civil commitment hearings or other legal proceedings.

Perform various administrative functions such as monitoring expenditures and preparing reports and correspondence; may participate in a variety of research projects to develop service plans and propose changes to program policies and procedures.

Provide clinical supervision to lower level therapists and/or graduate social work students/interns, and/or consulting services to other patient care professionals.

Provide formal teaching, consultation, and in‑service training to relevant professionals in appropriate handling and referral of various matters.

Promote and use best practices in treatment; may include specialized training.

Meet published departmental expectations for client access and productivity.

Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in‑services, meetings, and workshops.

Follow patient safety‑related policies, procedures, and protocols.

Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve policies and processes.

Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.

Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations they don't understand.

Qualifications Education Essential:

Master's Degree

Essential:

Related Discipline (Social Work)

Experience Essential:

3 years directly related experience; Documented experience in age‑appropriate environment.

Nonessential:

Bilingual: English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.

Credentials Essential:

LPCC/CMHC or LCSW or LMFT in New Mexico.

Physical Conditions Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly. May require walking or standing to a significant degree or standing most of the time; may involve pushing and pulling arm or leg controls.

Working Conditions

Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials – requires PPE.

Must be credentialed by UNMH Credentialing Committee.

Tuberculosis testing required upon hire and as required.
