General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership who manages a specific area of the Store and, while acting as Manager on Duty, oversees opening and closing, supervising associates, maintaining store appearance, and executing operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment

Prioritize safety and model safe behaviors.

Maintain awareness on the sales floor and report unsafe conditions.

Secure building and assets, control entrances, check EAS devices, secure cash office and armored carrier pickups.

Keep egress clear and remove clutter.

Ensure customer safety: accident prevention and reporting.

Test fire alarm systems and respond to after–hours alarms.

Customer Service

Treat all customers, associates and leaders with respect.

Show courtesy, friendliness and professionalism; recognize associates.

Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the company brand.

Maintain professional appearance per Dress Code and enforce it.

Keep store areas clean, well‑maintained and merchandised.

Manage daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.

Receive merchandise trucks as needed and process inbound deliveries.

Maintain stockroom cleanliness and organization.

Assist in placing merchandise and securing back‑stock.

Reduce loss from damage; comply with presentation guidelines.

Handle floor moves, promotions and re‑wraps.

Loss Prevention

Adhere to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.

Maintain a visible presence and engage customers and associates.

Safeguard confidential information, cash and merchandise.

Operate the Public View Monitor and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.

Front‑End Supervision & Operations

Apply best practices, minimize steps, and train associates.

Control line pace, stay energetic, and manage break schedules.

Ensure equipment works and supplies are stocked.

Teach Scan & Bag practices; drive product salability.

Fitting Rooms

Maintain cleanliness; audit garment tags.

Ensure proper go‑back compliance and security tagging.

Administrative Duties

Handle cash pulls, bank deposits, and front‑end controls.

Administer payroll, scheduling compliance and reporting.

Perform duties assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

Excellent verbal communication; fluency in English.

Prior customer‑service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with POS equipment and applications.

Basic math calculations for retail.

Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Use all store equipment; stand, walk and move 100% of time.

Regularly bend waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop.

Occasionally push/pull and lift >25 lb; store‑equipment specific lifts.

Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders.

Stockroom shifts may require >20 lb lifts.
