Responsibilities
Maintain a high standard of overall look and feel of the store, including store cleanliness and recovery standards to deliver Brand Promises.
Deliver friendly customer service, help customers shop and find what they’re looking for.
Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures.
Dust and mop floors following approved procedures.
Move equipment and products for proper cleaning and return products to correct placement.
Cleans assigned areas using the assigned materials and equipment. May require mixing water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Deep clean key areas of the store such as bathrooms, breakrooms, entry ways and other high traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notify supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.
Seek out areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the task.
Complete all tasks assigned by supervisor.
Perform tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations, in keeping with the organization’s vision and values.
Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
Other Duties
Provide a fast and friendly check‑out experience; execute cash handling to standards.
Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
Assist with omni‑channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS).
Participate in the truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
Support shrink and safety programs.
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching.
Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
Work Environment
Public retail store setting; all public areas are climate‑controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate‑controlled; outdoor work may be required to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks.
Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Use of standard commercial cleaners and chemicals from cleaning supplies.
Michaels requires all team members in this role to be at least sixteen (16) years or older.
