The
Regulatory Affairs Specialist, based out of Bloomington, MN or Marshall, MN,
is responsible for developing and maintaining product labeling that complies with FDA, FSIS, FNS, and international regulations. This role provides regulatory expertise to internal partners and delivers business‑minded solutions that support compliance and innovation.
Responsibilities
Develop, approve, and maintain product labeling in compliance with regulatory standards
Review ingredients, formulations, processing procedures, analytical data, and claims for labeling purposes
Create nutrition facts panels in compliance with FDA and USDA labeling regulations
Provide nutrition labeling expertise to internal partners in alignment with company guidelines and/or customers’ requirements
Partner with Product Development, Marketing, Food Safety and Quality, and Packaging to support new product development, reformulation, and label changes
Liaise with government agencies and internal partners to resolve labeling discrepancies
Research new product concepts to determine appropriate labeling and regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate internal records to support labeling compliance and documentation requirements
Educate internal teams on current and emerging labeling regulations
Provide technical regulatory support to cross‑functional teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biological Sciences, or related field
3+ years’ experience in food regulatory affairs, labeling, and nutrition compliance
Self‑motivated, highly organized, and detail‑oriented; able to manage shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong understanding of U.S. and international food regulations, with eagerness to expand knowledge
Experience with product development and imported products; familiarity with Canada and Mexico labeling regulations a plus
Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $58,500 to $97,500 annually with eligibility for a 5% annual incentive bonus that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to education, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree (U.S. or foreign) or equivalent in Food Science, Dairy Science, Foods & Nutrition Studies, Biological Sciences, or related field
Years of Related Experience: 3-5 years related experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Intermediate PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Intermediate communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Working knowledge of product development from feasibility through launch. Intermediate knowledge of Algebra, Geometry, and Chemistry. Basic to intermediate knowledge of food processing. Working knowledge of the operations of government agencies. Good understanding of food ingredient uses and functionality. Solid ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and offer solutions.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related field preferred; ability to taste and ingest any type of food product currently under development
