Job Snapshot As the Building Wellness Manager, you will create and maintain the routine and emergency maintenance of fixed facility assets. Perform semi‑skilled and skilled technical, repair, preventative and predictive maintenance work to include, but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, carpentry, landscaping and other building maintenance and equipment repair work. Perform inspections, diagnose problems, and make appropriate repairs and/or coordinate repairs with outside contractors. Take an active role in improving overall organizational performance, especially as related to addressing opportunities for improvement in the areas of facility maintenance, facility fixed equipment and facility grounds maintenance. You will take a hands‑on approach to leadership, effectively engaging, motivating, and coaching team members. Partnering with the MRE senior leadership team, you will define, develop and deliver the facilities maintenance roadmap and set the standard for operational efficiency for your fulfillment center.

You will

Oversee MRE‑related processes including monitoring and maintenance of equipment, electrical, refrigeration, PIT equipment (forklifts), building, grounds, and overall upkeep of buildings

Motivate, engage, coach, and inspire a team of technicians and associate managers, creating a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees to provide feedback and drive change from within

Provide project management support as assigned

Manage outside vendors and facilitate planned and unplanned repairs

Ensure that maintenance, safety, and environmental regulations are followed

Maintain a current list of contractors to ensure that all emergency repairs are handled in a timely manner

Identify problems and brainstorm improvement ideas for the fulfillment center

You have

5+ years’ experience managing facilities maintenance/operations and reliability within the Food/Beverage/Perishables/Distribution industry

Bachelor's Degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required

Interest in spending most of your time on the shop floor and working directly with all levels of staff

High level of integrity and ethics with excellent follow‑through

Excitement for working in a start‑up environment with a high level of ambiguity and change

Effective communicator for employees, direct reports, cross‑functional teams, and senior leadership

Well versed in OSHA/ NFPA regulations and compliance; OSHA certified a plus

Knowledgeable in mechanical, electrical, automation and refrigeration systems

Able to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics

Comfortable working in cold environments with some areas of facility at 40F

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and/or nights

Illinois Pay Range: $102,600—$115,400 USD
