Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary:
The Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment used in waste collection operations, including roll‑off, front‑load, and residential trash trucks. This role ensures all vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on diesel trucks and hydraulic systems.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy‑duty equipment.
Conduct DOT inspections and maintain accurate service records.
Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, and suspension systems.
Order and replace parts as needed and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA/DOT regulations.
Collaborate with operations staff to minimize equipment downtime and ensure fleet reliability.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in diesel mechanics.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy truck maintenance and repair, preferably in the waste industry.
Valid driver’s license (CDL).
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and diagnostic tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

$20.00 – $24.00 per hour Expected hours:
40 to 45 per week
