SUMMARY: As the 1st Shift Production Supervisor, you will serve as the operational backbone of our manufacturing floor during the most critical and production-intensive hours of the day. This role demands more than oversight, it requires ownership of safety, quality, delivery, cost, & team engagement in a dynamic, high-expectation environment where real-time decisions impact our ability to deliver for our customers.

You will lead a team of 25–50 operators, leads, and technicians, not only ensuring work is completed efficiently and to standard, but also reacting swiftly and decisively when challenges arise. Whether it’s uncovering a major production disruption and executing a recovery plan in real time, or proactively adjusting labor to meet shifting priorities, your ability to maintain control under pressure is just as vital as driving performance under normal conditions. This position is ideal for a floor-centric, hands-on leader who embraces a culture of ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement. The right candidate will be a strong communicator, a skilled problem solver, and a motivator who earns the respect of the team through action and accountability. You are not just managing operations, you are setting the tone, driving the pace, and ensuring our standards never slip.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Foster a supportive, high-performance manufacturing environment by coaching, motivating, and aligning the team around a shared 'can-do' mindset, reinforced through consistent feedback and adherence to standard work. Lead and manage all shift-level manufacturing operations with full accountability for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team morale (SQDCM). Drive tactical execution of production plans by aligning labor, materials, and equipment to meet daily demand and customer delivery commitments. Supervise, coach, and develop a team of production operators and leads, ensuring cross-training, job rotations, and performance accountability. Facilitate daily Tier meetings and actively engage on the floor to identify constraints, escalate issues, and deploy immediate countermeasures. Maintain clear communication across shifts & departments to ensure alignment on production, breakdowns, labor constraints, quality issues, recovery actions, etc. Ensure information is accurately transferred between Production Supervisors and Team Leads to drive operational continuity Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and EHS to ensure seamless execution and operational continuity. Own shift level KPI’s; monitoring and analyzing production metrics (e.g., throughput, efficiency, FPY, downtime, yield) and use data to drive improvements and correct variances. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, 6S, regulatory standards (e.g., ISO), and internal quality systems through visual management and audits. Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and company policies to ensure operational discipline. Lead root cause investigations and structured problem-solving (A3, 5-Whys, CAPA, 8D) to prevent recurrence of quality and production issues. Champion Lean Manufacturing initiatives (SMED, TPM, Poka-Yoke) and support a culture of continuous improvement at the floor level. Coordinate & lead new hire onboarding, skills development, and requalification training to build a competent and compliant workforce. Maintain and actively manage the operator skills matrix ensuring accurate tracking of capabilities, identify gaps, and support strategic cross-training

QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably high-mix or high-volume). Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing systems; Lean Six Sigma certification preferred (Green or Black Belt). Continuous Improvement mindset; experienced in driving process improvements and supply chain optimizations. Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify risks and implement effective solutions. Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.). Ability to interpret technical documents, SOPs, and quality standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of aligning hourly staff, technical teams, and leadership. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus, but not required. Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., MACPAC, SAP, Plex, Oracle)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role requires exposure to standard manufacturing conditions including noise, temperature, and moving machinery.

Regularly required to stand, walk, and observe production. Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments with appropriate PPE
