The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Prepares and disseminates information concerning agency programs, services, and procedures.
Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and documents.
Answers and routes phone calls; routes mail, files, and orders; and maintains office supplies.
Creates, maintains, and enters information into databases.
Compiles data for charts, graphs, databases, summaries, or reports.
Maintains scheduling and event calendars.
Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Performs related work as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.
Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements Or Certifications
No license or certification required.
Initial Screening Criteria
Experience in office practices and administrative procedures.
Experience in standard office equipment and software.
Experience in administrative support work.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
Additional Information
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS LEIE lists.
Males between ages 18–25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required. The position may require overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state-operated facility.
HHSC uses E-Verify. You must bring your I-9 documentation on your first day of work.
This position may be eligible for telework. Telework is subject to state and agency policies and the discretion of the supervisor.
