Senior Stormwater Transportation Engineer
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Stormwater Transportation Engineer to join our national drainage practice. Under the direction of our established leadership team, you will work on exciting projects that will challenge you and provide growth in your career. We have a flexible work environment allowing you to collaborate with a team on local, national, and international projects.
Responsibilities
Engineering design for roadway drainage on collector streets, urban arterials, expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements across the southeast.
Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, pond design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
Prepare construction plans, project displays, cost estimates, reports, and technical memos.
Assist in proposal development, presentations, and interviews.
Provide quality control reviews for drainage calculations and plans.
Utilize design software such as MicroStation, Inroads, ORD-SUDA, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC‑RAS, GIS, and StormCAD to assist with design and preparation of construction plans.
Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines including roadway, structures, utilities, etc.
Direct and mentor junior engineers and manage a team of up to 5 engineers.
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of relevant NCDOT drainage design experience.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑Accredited University.
North Carolina Professional Engineer license.
Key Skills & Attributes
Experience on NCDOT projects.
Understanding of bridge hydraulics analysis and FEMA floodplain regulations is a plus.
Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
Experience with permitting requirements for drainage on transportation projects.
Effective written and verbal communication, teamwork, and flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks.
Initiative and ability to tackle new projects and challenges regularly.
