Role description Arcadis is seeking a Senior Stormwater Transportation Engineer to join our national drainage practice. We have a strong backlog of work and need to expand our NC team in Charlotte, Raleigh or Greensboro. Under the direction of our established leadership team, you will work on exciting projects that challenge you and provide growth in your career. Accountabilities
Engineering design for roadway drainage and design-build projects across the southeast – collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates and bridge replacements.
Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design – bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage systems, pond design and erosion/sedimentation control.
Prepare construction plans and project displays.
Develop cost estimates, reports and technical memos.
Support proposal development, presentations and interviews.
Provide quality‑control reviews for drainage calculations and plans.
Utilize design software including MicroStation, Inroads, ORD‑SUDA, AutoCAD Civil 3d, Microsoft Excel, GIS, ICPR, HEC‑RAS, HY‑8, FlowMaster, Pond Pack, StormCAD, SMS, SRH‑2D and HEC‑RAS 2D.
Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines (roadway, structures, utilities, etc.).
Direct and mentor junior engineers; manage a team of up to five engineers.
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of relevant NCDOT drainage design experience.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
North Carolina Professional Engineer license.
Key Skills / Attributes
Experience on NCDOT projects.
In‑depth knowledge of bridge hydraulics analysis.
Understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations.
Knowledge of stormwater design – open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
Experience with permitting requirements for transportation projects.
Knowledge of BMPs for transportation projects.
Strong written and verbal communication; teamwork; flexibility; initiative.
