Overview

Retail Team Member - Events Coordinator at Michaels Stores. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events within a Michaels store (including kids birthday parties) to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and ensuring fast, friendly checkout. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to support Brand Promises. Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events. Engage with clients of all ages to create an environment of fun and creativity. Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects; perform face painting and other activities as appropriate. Facilitate party add-ons (e.g., goody bags, balloons) according to company standards. Communicate events with clients and store team members; complete administrative tasks (emails, phone calls, paperwork) as needed. Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs; create backup or emergency plans as required. Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events; uphold cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event. Assist with omni-channel processes (Buy Online Pickup in Store, Ship From Store) and participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POG) processes. Maintain merchandise recovery, Store-In-Stock Optimization (SISO), and AD set duties as assigned; support shrink and safety programs. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company programs to ensure legal compliance and policy adherence. Qualifications

Energetic, enthusiastic, and customer-focused with excellent people skills. Experience working with children and planning or hosting children’s events. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal) and good listening abilities. Good organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills; ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests and co-workers. Retail and/or customer service experience required. Cross-training in Custom Framing selling and production is a plus. Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store; regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching; may involve lifting heavy boxes and using ladders. Work in a public retail store setting; some stock rooms may be climate controlled or not; occasional outdoor tasks may be required. Evening, weekend, and early morning work hours may be required.
