Retail Team Member - Events Coordinator at Michaels Stores Store – LA-WHITTIER, CA Overview

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events within a Michaels store (including kids birthday parties) to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and find what they’re looking for. Ensure a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises. Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events. Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity. Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, perform face painting and other activities as applicable. Facilitate and implement party add-ons (e.g., goody bags, balloons) to company standards. Communicate events with clients and store team members. Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed. Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs; create backup or emergency plans as needed. Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events and uphold store cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event. Customer Experience

Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions. Provide fast and friendly checkout experience. Engage customers on the benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments. Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey. Assist with Omni-channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Participate in truck unload, stocking and planogram (POG) processes; complete merchandise recovery and maintenance. Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned; support shrink and safety programs. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws; interact respectfully and professionally with others. Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production; participate in daily store cleanliness activities. Qualifications and Skills

Energetic, enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills. Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co-workers. Experience working with children and children’s events. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal) and listening abilities. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills. Retail and/or customer service experience required. Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Ability to remain standing for long periods; move throughout the store; regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching. Lifting heavy boxes; accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment. Public retail store setting with climate-controlled public areas; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work as needed.
