We are seeking a

Transportation Manager

to lead our transportation department with a focus on safety, service, and cost efficiency. This role involves managing personnel, ensuring safe and timely shipments, and fostering a safety-first culture. This position is exclusively available to active-duty service members eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program, within the last 12 months of their active-duty service. It is an unpaid internship without benefits, in partnership with DoD SkillBridge. Responsibilities

Promote safety and ensure injury-free interactions among associates, drivers, customers, and the public. Develop and coach drivers and transportation staff, ensuring proper training in policies, safety, and legal responsibilities. Manage team performance, conduct evaluations, and implement improvement plans. Encourage open communication and motivate staff to meet department goals. Supervise work and productivity, fostering engagement and adherence to US Foods values. Participate in hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions. Monitor delivery accuracy, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations. Identify waste, streamline processes, and conduct safety meetings. Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files and investigate accidents to prevent recurrence. Schedule shifts using planning tools like Microsoft Excel. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision and Relationships

Direct supervision of union and non-union drivers. Interaction with transportation leaders, drivers, warehouse staff, and external customers. Work Environment

Time spent on the road, exposure to noise and vibrations, and office work involving computers. Minimum Qualifications

At least 3 years in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution. Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience. Experience as a driver is a plus. Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of transportation operations and safety regulations. Leadership, communication, and people development skills. Understanding of DOT, OSHA, and inventory control. Ability to analyze operational data and use basic computer tools. Additional Requirements

Travel up to 10% for meetings or training. High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred. Physical ability to perform activities such as driving, lifting, climbing, and manual dexterity. Compensation

Expected base salary ranges from $55,000 to $90,000, depending on experience, education, and location. Employment Details
