West High School Purpose of Position

Seeking a high quality and engaging Girls Associate Head Track Coach to create and provide leadership in building a high-performing Girls Track & Field program. Candidates must be able to positively motivate student-athletes to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork. Successful candidates will possess a passion to work with/educate student-athletes, have a sincere interest in young people, and demonstrate a willingness to become an active contributor to the school culture, as well as be willing to work to establish a youth program to partner with the high school program. Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise the Track and Field program coaching staff including Assistant Coaches. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Oversee training of the Track and Field program in conjunction with other coaches. Develop training plans for the Track and Field program in conjunction with other coaches. Assist in overseeing the running of events as needed and as directed by Athletic Director. Direct competition planning for other coaches. Attend and coach at all practices. Attend and coach at all events. Monitor program members’ school and practice attendance, event participation, and academic performance (grades). Enforce program policies and team expectations. Provide student-athletes with feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and skills. Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the Track and Field program. Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director. Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the Track and Field program. In conjunction with the Track and Field Program Head, will determine day-to-day operational duties. Qualifications

Knowledge of instructional techniques for Track & Field events. Current certification in CPR/AED from a national certifying organization or must obtain within one month of employment. If no teaching license, successful completion of an approved coach’s education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching. Demonstrated ability to successfully coach in a diverse population. Ability to initiate and maintain open communication with staff, student athletes, and families. Competitive experience in Track & Field at the high school level. Previous coaching experience with preference for those with prior Track coach experience. Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to design and implement, a developmentally appropriate Track program. Evidence of knowledge of eligibility standards and willingness to reinforce good sportsmanship and compliance with athletic codes from members of the Track program. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise athletic teams with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility, and safety. Preferred: Valid teaching license Preferred: College Track & Field coaching experience Preferred: Demonstrated ability to successfully implement Track & Field systems in a high school setting Working Conditions

Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements

The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
