Position Summary The Cardozo School of Law Registrar provides overall leadership and management of all aspects of student registration and recordkeeping, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of student and institutional records, compliance with all relevant state and federal laws and regulations, and reporting to relevant institutional stakeholders and state bars. The Registrar works closely with the Vice Dean, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, and the Dean of Students to implement academic planning and policy and work collaboratively with the University Registrar and administration.

Responsibilities

Establish and administer processes for student records management, archiving, and adherence to the University records retention policy, collaborating with the University Registrar and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Ensure all stakeholders adhere to FERPA requirements and other relevant laws regarding student privacy.

Oversee all Registrar services for students and faculty, including transcript processing, grade processing, transfer credit evaluation, scheduling and registration, degree conferral, and certification to state bars for admission.

Compile, record, verify, and disseminate data on student enrollment, curriculum, academic progress, grades, and bar pass rates to law school staff, accreditation agencies, and state bars.

Collaborate with the Vice Dean and Assistant Dean to establish and disseminate the academic calendar, update registration materials, and ensure all IT systems (e.g., Banner, 25Live) reflect current schedules.

Develop the student registration schedule for all semesters, manage the online registration process, communicate deadlines, and administer the Cardozo lottery registration system.

Liaise with institutional partners to facilitate cross-listing and registration of jointly offered courses.

Manage the Office of the Registrar, allocating work, training staff, enforcing internal procedures, and evaluating performance.

Implement technological improvements and updates, design systems, and optimize Registrar office functions.

Participate in university policy development regarding student records and registration, collaborate with other YU schools’ Registrar managers, and lead IT projects benefiting Cardozo and shared initiatives across YU.

Engage in professional development to remain current on federal and state educational policy requirements related to enrollment and recordkeeping.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.

Master’s degree or JD strongly preferred.

At least five years’ experience in a college or university administrative setting, with preference for Registrar office experience.

Experience in academic records management, curriculum administration, or student services preferred.

Knowledge of FERPA and related federal and state laws preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of Banner, APS Grading, SeatGen, 25Live, and reporting software preferred.

Understanding of law school academic and graduation requirements and bar admission eligibility preferred.

Scope of Responsibility

Reports to the Vice Dean of the law school and the University Registrar.

Supervises all full- and part‑time staff in the office.

Salary Range $100,000 - $115,000
