Police Records Supervisor

Minimum Starting Salary: $23.53 per hour
The City of Waco seeks a Police Records Supervisor who can supervise a public records work group and train staff. The position requires detail‑oriented, organized individuals who enjoy working with the public and can maintain strict confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Three years of experience within a related setting
Specific technical training and certifications required:
National/Texas Crime Information Centers (NCIC/TCIC) within six months from date of hire
Additional licenses and certifications may be required depending on city needs
Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background screening
Must complete Police Department Background Packet (sent after position closes)
Must pass a polygraph
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred
Associate's Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, or related field
One year of supervisory experience
Position Description Under basic supervision, supervises staff and functions of the Public Records work group for the Waco Police Department (WPD), in compliance with city procedures and state laws and regulations.
Essential Functions
Supervise a Public Records work group; ensure services provided comply with state laws, city policies, and WPD quality standards; interpret and enforce policies and procedures governing confidentiality requirements and release of police records and information.
Supervise and train staff; assign work, conduct performance evaluations, and resolve personnel issues; review work performance and ensure quality and timeliness standards are met; meet regularly with staff to discuss and resolve technical issues, workload, and records system integrity.
Process a variety of public records and information requests; answer inquiries and explain policies and procedures; provide information and assistance within scope of authority; prepare activity reports.
May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or city-wide emergency.
