Position Overview The City of Pearland, TX - Police Department

Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary of $17.96 to $21.07 per hour based on qualifications. City pays all premiums for dental, long‑term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of medical premium for employees and their dependents. Retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match. A Day in the Life of the Police Records Clerk Job Summary

Perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in support of the Police Department, including but not limited to entering and updating offense and accident reports, filling, typing, and preparing TCIC/NCIC validations. Answer incoming non‑emergency calls, maintain accurate accounts of all reports, and prepare packets for prosecution as appropriate.

Must be able to pass a criminal history check and polygraph testing.

Must be available to work weekdays, overtime, and emergency work.

Essential Functions

Regular and timely attendance at work.

Enter, retrieve, and manage information from various computer systems according to appropriate procedures.

Search, retrieve, and release information from files, computer records, and other documents in response to specific requests.

Release information and documents in accordance with the Public Information Act and other applicable laws.

Sort, review, and screen police reports for completeness before forwarding to the district attorney, defendants, victims, and other government agencies.

Maintain logs and other records to assure tracking of case files.

Process offense and accident requests and deposit fees.

Answer phone calls for records division and respond to requests for information concerning records and department functions and policies.

Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent is required.

One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of law enforcement functions and preferred.

Knowledge of Municipal Government, ordinances, Texas Penal Code, and other laws, rules and regulations associated with record keeping.

Work Schedule Must be able to work evenings, nights, and weekends. Must be able to work Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (or 7 am to 5 pm), overtime provided, and emergency work.

Preferred Technical Skills

Microsoft Office skills.

Scanning, filing, and organization skills.

Multi‑ple software applications experience.

Deposit fee processing for Crywolf alarm permits.

Custom employee service skills to assist citizens with the Crywolf permit accounts.

Special Certifications and Licenses

NCIC/TCIC certified or ability to obtain in six months.

State of Texas Notary, preferred.

CPR Certified, preferred.

Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

Bi‑lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
