Principal Mission:
Motivated and educational counseling of persons suffering from addiction illness. The Addiction Medicine Social Worker will conduct individual counseling sessions, open and closed groups, family and conjoint counseling sessions. Present educational information on alcoholism and substance abuse to patients and their significant others. Function as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ensure referrals to appropriate modalities based on patient needs. Write clear, timely, and concise progress notes, including areas of conflict, short-term and long-term treatment planning, and psychosocial history. Assess new patients upon admission. Conduct small group activities. Serve in a leadership capacity and act as a resource person for counselors. Provide timely progress reports to referring agencies. Offer professional guidance to counselors. Assist counselors in assessing patients' psychological/psychiatric needs and make appropriate referrals. Understand the Diversion Prevention Plan for the Methadone Substance Abuse Treatment Program and Medically Managed Detoxification Unit. Requirements
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) within one year. At least 3 years of direct experience in a professional setting with direct supervision. Union Position
