Description
ACRT Pacific, LLC is seeking energetic entry‑level Vegetation Management Inspectors (VMI) to patrol hazard trees, perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines, and assist with tree clearance requests. The role is a full‑time, safety‑sensitive position located within 50 miles of Grass Valley, CA and requires an active ISA Arborist certification.
Key responsibilities
include circuit patrols, tree inspection and documentation, client coordination, emergency response support, and program oversight as directed by the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
The VMI must perform circuit patrols in accordance with the annual VM plan and VM patrol standards. Identify required tree work along PG&E rights‑of‑way, prescribe tree work, and document inspections. Ensure all inspections meet applicable standards and notify property owners/agencies of upcoming work. Act as the VM contact for new business and re‑construction work requested by the energy delivery organization. Perform work verification inspections and verify applicable inspection and tree work completion and quality. Investigate and document tree‑related outages; attend outage meetings as requested. Track, field‑check, and prescribe work for non‑routine locations, including EC/LC notifications and CC&B cases. Support emergency response operations directed by OEC, including dispatching tree crews and field checking sites. Independently complete tasks assigned by the supervisor. Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings. Serve as a customer relations representative on behalf of PG&E. Coordinate with contractors, communities, agencies, and first responders; maintain all relevant documentation and reporting. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (annual permits, encroachment permits, traffic control plans, railroad permits, Caltrans permits, environmental protection measures). Maintain proficiency with electronic devices, hand‑held computers, and PG&E databases such as VMDSR.
Basic Responsibility
Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe work to maintain a minimum of one calendar year of compliance. Determine trim or removal requirements and assess trees for potential hazard to PG&E facilities. Prescribe pruning and removal work to meet regulatory requirements and PG&E VMS standards. Notify property owners of required work and map circuits using PG&E continuity list. Manage EC notifications, perform outage investigations, obtain permits, and document work in VMDSR or other PG&E databases. Use computers and associated software to enter data and process hand‑held device information. Perform emergency response duties in accordance with safety requirements and applicable regulations. Maintain direct contact with PG&E division personnel, public agencies, and customers as directed by the PG&E representative. Follow ACRT’s Guiding Principles and perform other duties as required.
Equipment, Environmental and Safety Requirements
Driving cars, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment Walking on uneven ground, exposure to noise and extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement; exposure to dust, gas, fumes, chemicals Prolonged periods of sitting during driving, meetings, or training Use of forestry‑related equipment (clinometer, range finder, logger’s tape, DBH tape) and safety gear (hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses)
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED Class C driver’s license Active ISA Arborist certification
Experience / Education Requirements (must meet any one)
One (1) year of related arboricultural experience ISA Certified Arborist 2‑year or 4‑year college degree in a related field
