Support Coordinator - PMOB Rad Onc - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union) Be among the first 25 applicants.

The Support Coordinator will assist with all aspects of patient care, coordinate clinic schedules, patient appointments, and follow‑up. Responsibilities include answering patient phone calls, verifying insurance benefits, preparing charts for clinic visits, preparing charge tickets, coordinating surgeries and diagnostic testing, and compiling letters of medical necessity.

Additional duties include assisting with clerical tasks, serving as a liaison between the clinic and referring physicians, managing post‑surgical follow‑up appointments, and supporting efficient clinic scheduling. The Coordinator works with all physicians.

Essential Duties

Perform front‑ and back‑office administrative duties to maintain efficient patient flow and excellent patient experience.

Schedule new patient visits and follow‑up appointments; answer patient phone calls; prepare charts and new consult questionnaires; assist with patient registration, insurance verification, authorization, co‑pay collections, and daily check‑in/out.

Provide flexible coverage for satellite clinics and perform other duties as assigned.

Process referrals, obtain medical records, enter demographic information, provide records to physicians/teams, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and schedule labs, diagnostic tests, and consultations.

Manage clinic schedules proactively, review the master schedule, anticipate changes, and create operational flow for a positive patient experience.

Coordinate diagnostic testing scheduling, send letters of medical necessity, file supporting documentation for billing, provide phone coverage, and distribute messages via text, email, and voicemail within 24 hours.

Customer Service

Act as a courteous, compassionate contact for patients and caregivers, providing guidance on scheduling, paperwork, and follow‑up appointments.

Work independently with limited supervision, take initiative, and accept responsibility for the patient experience.

Conduct financial risk assessments and inform patients about insurance benefits and funding options, referring complex cases to counselors.

Facilitate communication among patients, caregivers, and the care team, keeping all involved personnel informed of changes.

Teamwork & Collaboration

Provide flexible coverage for staff absences and work independently as well as in a team setting.

Maintain open communication with management and staff, demonstrating professionalism.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

One year of experience in a medical assistant or front‑office role in a medical or ambulatory care setting.

Proven customer‑service record dealing with the public.

Excellent communication skills; fluent in spoken and written English.

Comfortable with computers, medical terminology, and in‑depth knowledge of all insurance types.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant Program with a Diploma/Certificate (required if performing MA duties).

Familiarity with word processing, Microsoft Outlook, GE Centricity Business, Cerner, PBAR, scheduling systems, intranet navigation, and online queries.

Knowledge of insurance billing, admitting, or registration in a hospital or medical office.

Bilingual language skills desirable.

BLS certification (required if performing MA duties).

Licenses / Certifications

Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). Card must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration.

Hourly rate: $22.00 – $34.18.
