Required Education BA

Required Experience Minimum 5 years of professional fundraising experience.

Physical Requirements Long periods of sitting/standing; travel across state and U.S.; lifting up to 25 lbs.

Summary Managed jointly by the UK Philanthropy Office and the College of Nursing, the Philanthropy Director Assistant is responsible for overall leadership of philanthropy activities within the College of Nursing. With a primary focus on major gift fundraising at high giving levels, the incumbent will engage in progressively more sophisticated philanthropic giving conversations with major gift donors and prospects of greater capacity. The selected applicant will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors and prospects with a giving capacity of $25,000 or more. This position will be a member of the Dean’s senior leadership team, provide counsel to the Dean regarding philanthropy activities, and supervise the volunteer philanthropy leadership council and other philanthropy staff as needed.

Responsibilities

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors and prospects with a giving capacity of $25,000 or more.

Engage in major gift conversations with donors/prospects of greater capacity.

Plan, develop, and oversee the college’s major gift strategy and portfolio.

Mentor and guide philanthropic staff and volunteer councils.

Provide counsel to the Dean and senior leadership on philanthropy initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

Proven record of success in major gift fundraising.

Strong collaborative leadership.

Experience with planned giving, charitable gift arrangements.

Excellent communication, persuasive writing, marketing, philanthropic messaging.

Experience managing fundraising teams with accountability-based metrics.

Preferred Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree with minimum five years of professional fundraising experience; experience as a major gift officer, expertise in planned giving; record of success; at least two years managing fundraising work plan and staff, preferably at a land‑grant institution.
