We’re searching for an Operations Technician to join our Rock Cut Campus on AWS (Weekend) shift in Loves Park, IL. This role focuses on precision production, process oversight, quality assurance, organization, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Operate machinery and equipment following documented procedures, producing products accurately and efficiently.
Flex and support the full product line across various processes and capacities.
Observe and record process variables to ensure consistency and quality, logging daily operations and resolving or escalating concerns.
Conduct inspections and tests to verify product accuracy and functionality, maintaining data per operating standards.
Apply 5S principles to keep workstations clean, organized, and free of unnecessary items; store and maintain tools, materials, and equipment properly.
Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining mindfulness of self and the work area.
Key Skills
Technical capability – understand and follow basic technical instructions and SOPs.
Critical thinking – identify gaps to standard and resolve or escalate per standard procedures.
Mechanical aptitude – basic understanding of mechanical systems and components; safe use of hand tools and basic equipment; perform basic setups.
Team communication – communicate effectively with team members and supervisors; adhere to Woodward’s core values.
Time management – manage time to complete assigned tasks within schedules.
Lean mindset – follow lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction; participate in continuous improvement activities.
Production systems – understand and adhere to standardized work; participate in daily management system.
Computer skills – use basic software (email, spreadsheets, data entry tools).
Attention to detail – ensure precision; follow instructions precisely and check work for accuracy.
Collaboration – support overall team objectives; accept feedback.
Additional Information Moderate physical activity required: walking, standing, bending; lifting or moving objects. Work in an area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require protective clothing or gear. Near vision and/or color vision examinations may be required.
What We Are Looking For (Level I)
Previous machining, assembly, or test experience preferred.
Basic mechanical aptitude highly beneficial.
This position requires information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR and EAR.
