Summary The Maintenance Manager leads the Maintenance Department and oversees a team of technicians responsible for ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and safety of production equipment and facilities at Willbanks Metals. This leader brings an extensive maintenance background with the ability to operate at a high level—setting strategy, prioritizing work, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement across people, processes, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and schedule maintenance technicians across shifts; set goals, conduct reviews, and manage performance.

Build a strong safety culture with daily huddles, near‑miss reporting, and continuous coaching; enforce OSHA, LOTO, and company rules.

Own preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans; coordinate planned outages and emergency response.

Manage CMMS: asset registry, PM routines, work orders, parts/spares, and maintenance history; drive PM compliance.

Track and improve uptime/OEE, MTTR/MTBF, and backlog health; lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.

Oversee maintenance of steel‑processing equipment (plate/section rolls, press brakes, shears, saws, plasma/oxy‑fuel cutting), overhead cranes, forklifts, conveyors, compressors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, motors, VFDs, and PLC‑controlled machinery.

Ensure reliable operation of facility systems: electrical distribution, lighting, HVAC, air systems, and fire/life safety.

Plan and control maintenance budgets; optimize spend on parts, tools, and contractors; maintain a critical‑spares program.

Scope and execute reliability upgrades and facility projects; support equipment installs, relocations, and commissioning.

Select, qualify, and supervise contractors; manage service agreements, warranties, and contractor safety orientation.

Communicate status, risks, and priorities to the VP of Operations and production leadership; publish weekly/monthly KPI reports.

Minimum Qualifications

7+ years in industrial maintenance with increasing responsibility; 3+ years in a supervisor/manager role.

Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical (PLC/VFD basics), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Hands‑on experience in heavy manufacturing or metals/steel fabrication environments.

Proficiency with CMMS, maintenance planning/scheduling, and spare‑parts management.

Proven results improving uptime, safety performance, and maintenance KPIs.

Solid understanding of OSHA, LOTO, and NFPA 70E; commitment to safety leadership.

Ability to read electrical/mechanical schematics and equipment manuals; strong troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication, prioritization, and team‑building skills; able to coordinate across shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, plasma/oxy‑fuel cutting, press brakes, rolling equipment, and large material‑handling systems.

RCA/Lean/TPM/5S experience; basic data analysis for reliability decisions.

Project management experience (installations, upgrades, commissioning).

Trade certification or technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Mechanical fields.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Manufacturing environment with moving equipment, hot work, noise, dust, and variable temperatures.

Regular walking/standing; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; climbing ladders and accessing equipment platforms.

Required PPE: safety glasses, steel‑toe boots, gloves; additional PPE as tasks require.
