Overview

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist. The Laboratory Technical Specialist has direct responsibilities for the technical operations of their section at both Wilson Medical Center and Binghamton General Hospital. Oversees and coordinates the daily technical activities of their respective section, and when necessary, functions as a technologist. The Technical Specialist is the technical expert of the section and works under the direction of the Core Laboratory Manager, the Administrative Director, and the Medical Director. All duties are performed in a timely manner according to UHS's Laboratory and Departmental Policies and Procedures, New York State Department of Health Regulations, CAP, and CDC Blood and Body Fluids Procedures, and Infection Control Policies. Priority is given to STAT testing and to tests that require immediate processing. $37.00 - $55.50 per hour, depending on experience Job Responsibilities

Provides input for daily schedules and assignment of duties to section personnel. Ensures that laboratory tests are performed according to department protocols and are reported in a timely manner. Ensures systems provide valid and accurate test results with adequate quality control; performs daily patient result and quality control reviews and takes appropriate corrective action. Supports and models compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with licensure requirements and UHS Laboratory Policy. Provides input for annual goals and objectives reflective of laboratory and hospital goals. Provides input for annual budgets (supplies, personnel, and capital) in conjunction with Laboratory Management; operates the section within approved budget limits. Ensures quality control, quality improvement, and instrument maintenance activities; prepares recommendations for procedural improvements. Develops, prepares and maintains policies and procedures for the department with Laboratory Management. Provides input for performance appraisals and may participate in candidate evaluations for employment. Participates in clinical and didactic educational programs for CLT and CCLT students. Position Qualifications

Minimum Required Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (Grandfathered NYS Licensed CLT) Six (6) years of clinical laboratory experience, three (3) years in a specialty area NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist Preferred Specialty certification in a specialty area ASCP Specialty Certification United Health Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
