Base pay range $30.00/hr - $36.00/hr

Job Summary The Procurement Clerk supports the purchasing and supply chain functions by handling the clerical and administrative tasks of procurement. This role ensures accurate record-keeping, assists with sourcing and purchase orders, and helps maintain smooth communication between vendors, project supervisors, and the procurement team. The Procurement Clerk plays a key role in making sure materials are ordered, tracked, and delivered on time so projects stay on schedule.

Duties/Responsibilities

Upholds and promotes the Thompson Mission, Vision, and Values.

Assists with sourcing and obtaining quotes from suppliers for construction materials, tools, and equipment.

Prepares purchase orders and maintains accurate procurement records and files.

Tracks shipments, delivery schedules, and inventory levels to support project timelines.

Negotiates effectively with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to secure favorable terms and outcomes.

Communicates with site supervisors to confirm material needs and delivery requirements.

Maintains regular contact with suppliers to follow up on orders and resolve minor issues such as delays or discrepancies.

Reviews invoices, packing slips, and purchase documentation for accuracy and compliance.

Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements.

Enters procurement data into company systems to ensure accurate reporting.

Supports compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.

Coordinates with accounting/finance to ensure proper documentation for payments.

Provides clerical and administrative support to the procurement team and leaders of all companies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.

Basic understanding of purchasing processes and vendor communication.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn procurement software.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, supervisors, and team members.

Strong problem-solving skills for handling delivery, pricing, or documentation discrepancies.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.

Minimum of 2 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in the construction industry.

Familiarity with construction materials and equipment is highly preferred.

Valid driver’s license for occasional visits to suppliers or job sites, if necessary.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull 50-pound loads at a time.

Must be able to ride in a car for long periods of time.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
