Job Description The Transportation Planning Senior Manager will lead strategic growth initiatives, resource planning, and technical oversight for transportation projects within the DMV sub‑region. Responsibilities include business‑line leadership engagement, operational efficiency development, compliance assurance, and cross‑functional collaboration to meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic growth across the region.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize team performance, process automation, and resource allocation.
Maintain a client‑driven culture, providing market‑focused solutions and deep customer insight.
Drive operational excellence through data‑driven decision making and KPI monitoring.
Lead business development meetings, ensuring regular communication and reporting on strategic priorities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and engineering standards.
Coordinate with project managers and engineering leads to align staffing with resource needs.
Allocate engineering resources across projects based on priorities, timelines, and skill requirements.
Monitor and adjust resource utilization to avoid bottlenecks and under‑utilization.
Develop and maintain resource management plans, identifying potential conflicts and gaps.
Facilitate clear communication of resource assignments and utilization.
Analyze capacity and skillset requirements to collaborate with HR on future hiring and training.
Provide regular updates on resource status and utilization to senior management, including optimization recommendations.
Forecast future resource needs to support ongoing projects and new initiatives.
Resolve resource‑related conflicts and balance workload demands to foster a collaborative environment.
Implement standardized processes, best practices, and metrics to improve efficiency, quality, and collaboration.
Monitor progress of planning projects, identify risks, and provide solutions to maintain schedules.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field with 10 years of relevant experience (including 2 years of leadership).
Proven experience in business development, resource management, project management, and/or operations within an engineering or technical environment.
Strong understanding of engineering processes and the ability to align resources effectively with technical requirements.
Experience overseeing multiple technical teams while managing competing priorities and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
AICP certification
Master of Planning, Engineering, or MBA degree
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland, DC, or Virginia (for engineers)
Excellent organizational and communication skills, managing competing priorities and stakeholders.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, adapt to changing needs, and solve complex problems.

Compensation Salary range: $175,000 to $215,000 per year, based on education, experience, and location.
