HED is an industry leader specializing in the design, manufacture, and application of innovative vehicle controls, displays, and telematics systems for on- and off-highway vehicle OEMs. Our application development tools, and engineering services enable OEMs flexibility and easy configurability to create customized vehicle control systems. We are looking for a sharp, results-driven Commodity Manager to lead the sourcing of complex materials including PCBAs, electronic components, LCDs, and plastic injection molding. You will own key performance metrics like on-time delivery and monthly PPV savings, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement. This is a high-visibility role where your expertise in managing intricate commodity categories will directly influence our operational success and bottom line. Essential duties and responsibilities may be expanded as needed by management. Responsibilities
Commodity Sourcing: Collaborate with Sourcing Manager to develop, implement, and execute strategic sourcing strategies for key commodities (PCBAs, electronic components, LCDs, and plastic injection molding). Research, identify, and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors in collaboration with the Procurement Manager and VP of Operations. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure best value. Manage and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery timelines, and cost targets. Market Analysis and Forecasting: Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, tariffs, and geopolitical factors affecting commodity availability and costs. Develop accurate commodity cost forecasts to support budgeting and financial planning. Provide actionable insights to management to mitigate price volatility risks. Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Resolve supplier issues and coordinate regular supplier audits and assessments with the Quality team. Cost Control and Budgeting: Monitor procurement spend and drive cost-saving initiatives. Establish and track procurement goals and identify opportunities for cost reduction through efficient sourcing, process improvements, design changes, and bulk purchasing. Collaboration and Coordination: Work with internal teams (business development, production, engineering, finance) to align on material needs, costs, and inventory levels. Coordinate with suppliers’ account managers to ensure on-time delivery. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure regulatory compliance for sourcing activities and manage risks related to shortages, quality issues, and disruptions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, policies, environmental regulations, and best practices. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent education and experience. Minimum of 7 years in purchasing and experience with ERP systems. Minimum of 5 years in electronics manufacturing. Understanding of integrated supply chain management, procurement principles, and best practices. Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities, exercise judgment, and make critical decisions. Experience building supply strategies based on operational needs (current and future). Team player, capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. English fluency. Ability to travel up to 10% domestically or internationally. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or MBA; professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CPM, ISM, or ASQ Supply Chain Certifications. Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex supply chain challenges. ERP systems experience with Syspro. Physical and Working Environment
Standard office environment with occasional travel to supplier locations or factories. Ability to sit, stand, and travel as needed; normal vision requirements and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Working environment may include factory or test environments. Why Join Us?
