Job Summary The

Paralegal III

provides high-level legal and administrative support across a range of litigation, transactional and regulatory matters for a not-for-profit healthcare organization. The role requires minimal supervision by attorneys and involves substantial independent judgment, legal research, document drafting and process improvement. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in California healthcare law, strong project management skills and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct

complex legal and regulatory research

on federal and state legislation, rules and industry standards.

Draft correspondence, memoranda, pleadings and regulatory filings for attorney review and approval.

Perform factual investigations, document analyses and case preparation for litigation and regulatory matters.

Support contract review and transactional documentation for vendors and providers.

Maintain and improve legal operations processes, SOPs and record management systems.

Organize departmental files and manage digital repositories using approved legal management platforms.

Develop plans for completing legal projects including document collection, organization and compliance reviews.

Mentor junior paralegals and interns; provide training on legal processes and research tools.

Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to ensure efficient project completion.

Coordinate and facilitate department training sessions and legal updates.

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education/experience).

3+ years of paralegal experience

in a healthcare or health plan organization handling complex regulatory or litigation assignments.

5+ years of experience

with public agency or regulatory compliance (e.g., Brown Act, CPRA, HIPAA, CMS, Medi-Cal, Knox-Keene Act).

Experience working in a highly regulated industry.

Preferred Experience

7+ years of paralegal experience in vendor, provider contracts or administrative law.

Experience in matter/project management.

Prior work with not-for-profit or public health entities.

Required Skills

Legal research and document drafting proficiency

Strong organizational and project management skills

Familiarity with healthcare and public law regulations

Excellent communication, writing and analytical ability

Preferred Skills

Advanced knowledge of legal technology platforms and teleconferencing tools

Proficiency with secure file transfer systems and research databases

Process improvement and SOP development experience

Additional Skills

Self-motivated, proactive and detail-oriented

Able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills

Shift / Hours Full-time, Monday-Friday (Hybrid schedule)
