On Call Event Assistant

– Center for the Arts. This is an in-person, on-campus, temporary or on-call position. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Box Office support for all Center for the Arts events, set up will call and artist comps, and keep track of ticket and ticket envelope stock. Set up and monitor catering. Break down catering at the end of evening. Help ensure unauthorized personnel do not enter the theatre, backstage areas or dressing rooms. Unlock theatre doors. Check/adjust theatre temperature. Provide access to music stands, bar stools, stage carpets and other equipment requested by tech crew. Answer phones, route calls, and provide excellent customer service to all callers and walk-up patrons. Check that listening enhancement devices are charged and available for events; collect devices at the end of events. Assist with the setup and breakdown of concessions during Met Opera/National Theatre broadcasts. Assist with artist greet-and-meets, photo ops, or Q&A sessions after shows. Inventory and, when required, sell artist merchandise; assist with end-of-event settlement. Monitor gallery exhibitions outside the box office windows; direct patrons to gallery handouts and sign-in sheets, and direct them to university galleries. Assist with maintaining mailing lists and patron data in Excel; post Center for the Arts events on community calendars; perform other administrative duties as assigned. Assist with dressing room setup, hospitality, and converting classrooms into dressing rooms as needed; return equipment to storage after shows. Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of related experience. Valid driver’s license; clean driving record (as defined by University policy) and up to date checks on moving violations per policy. Familiarity with Pro Venue Ticketing or similar software and box office operations. Excellent customer service, ability to interact with diverse audiences. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Social media support experience. Experience running errands, setting up and breaking down hospitality at events. Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel 2016. Ability to use a variety of computer software programs and handle confidential information appropriately. Ability to work weekdays and evenings, including weekends. Physical Requirements

Ability to lift or carry up to 30 pounds and move objects from floor to overhead; ability to push/pull up to 20 pounds regularly. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Experience with box office software, sales, operations and customer relations. Experience with venue operations and working with technical crews, tour/road managers, and venue staff. Ushering and front-of-house management experience and merchandise sales. Work Schedule and Environment

Department: Center for the Arts. Work Schedule: As needed for events during weekdays and evenings, including weekends. Total expected hours up to 20 per week, up to 50 weeks per year. Benefits
