Overview
Del Mar College seeks an experienced professional to serve as Administrative Assistant for the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). EOC is a U.S. Department of Education grant-funded program, providing comprehensive academic support services to college students with a range of academic needs and are first-generation college, low income, veterans, and/or have a disability. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance and support to the EOC Director and other staff members with administrative tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in business, technology, education, counseling or related field
Two (2) years of experience working within a business office setting.
Experience working with post-secondary administrators, faculty and staff.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of the barriers encountered by low-income, first-generation college students, veterans and persons with disabilities in post-secondary/career settings.
Knowledge of college admission requirements, academic and financial aid programs.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and public.
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of disadvantaged students and students whom the project may serve.
Ability to accurately handle administrative duties.
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a high-paced, high performance work environment.
Detail-oriented.
Excellent organizational and filing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and Powerpoint.
Experience of student management systems such as Ellucian Colleague, Campus Nexus Student/Anthology, CIVITAS Learning, Student Access and Blumen.
Educational and/or economic background similar to target population.
Job Duties
Greets visitors, participants and assists with inquiries.
Assists in maintaining all records related to project activities.
Coordinates fiscal, personnel, purchasing, payroll and monthly expenditure records.
Maintains files and an electronic database for 850 participants.
Assists in collecting data for the annual performance report and other monthly reports.
Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in federal Trio programs.
Assists in the development and/or selection of program marketing materials.
Provide follow-up with participants as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
