Administrative Assistant for Admissions and Records (part-time) Virginia's Community College System (New River Community College) is hiring a part‑time Administrative Assistant for Admissions and Records. The position is 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours per year, based in Pulaski, Virginia.

Compensation and Work Schedule Hourly rate: $15 per hour. Work schedule: Monday – Friday. Telework options are not available.

Duties

Provide high‑quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Assist students with admissions and records, including application, registration, graduation, and transcript requests.

File and scan documents, enter data into the Student Information System (SIS), and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.

Proctor tests and support other duties required by the supervisor.

Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA’s / Required Qualifications

Excellent human relations skills for working with the public and with community college students, faculty, and administrators.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices.

Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced team‑oriented environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Additional Factors That May Be Considered

Work experience in a team‑oriented postsecondary educational environment.

Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to college admissions and records.

Experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) or other comparable system.
