Community Engagement Organizer
works with internal development and operations teams to achieve a social license to operate for RWE’s onshore renewable energy projects in the south development region. This position will be responsible for creating and implementing community engagement plans, educating local stakeholders, organizing participation in public events, building relationships with renewable energy supporters, and representing RWE in communities that host our projects. This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement. Responsibilities: Support community engagement and outreach activities across RWE Clean Energy’s portfolio of operating and development projects in the south region Collaborate with onshore wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen project development teams to integrate community engagement and public education into the development process in order to achieve a “social license to operate” for RWE’s renewable energy projects Conduct research and stakeholder mapping exercises to create and implement community engagement plans for onshore development projects Support development and operations teams with maintaining a contact or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database for local stakeholders at each RWE onshore renewable energy project Plan and attend in-person community events, including wind farm tours, open houses, landowner dinners, school or community group presentations, and local fairs or festivals Coordinate and provide input on the creation of project websites, newsletters, fact sheets, and other communications materials Manage community relations-related purchases, invoices, and external consultants supporting social media, digital marketing, media relations, project logos, or other community engagement campaign activities Work with project development teams to set up local offices and recruit community liaison contractors Meet with project stakeholders, track community concerns and report an organized opposition around development projects Design social investment plans that help RWE achieve its corporate ESG goals while meeting the particular needs of local communities Travel – Up to 40%. Comfortable with overnight stays in remote areas Qualifications: Minimum 3 years experience working in community organizing, outreach, strategic communications, or political campaigns, strongly preferred Knowledge of the structure and function of county government including experience with renewable energy permitting and regulatory issues is strongly preferred Experience working in renewable energy, political organizing, environmental management, agriculture, or real estate development a plus Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds Exceptional written and oral communication Comfortable with public speaking and presentations Event coordination skills – Wind farm tours, open houses, landowner dinners, other community events (chamber, econ dev meetings) Experience with MS Windows and Office 365 applications Pay range:
The annual base salary range for this position is $60,700 - $91,100. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
