Part Time Retail Customer Service Specialist position focused on customer assistance, cash handling, merchandising, and store operations to maintain a neat, safe, and welcoming shopping environment. Responsibilities
Responsible for customer assistance, cash register operation, sales/monetary transactions, opening/closing procedures. Maintain positive customer and employee relations; report problems/complaints immediately to the store manager. Assist with inventory, display, merchandising and placement of stock on the sales floor, stock rotation and markdowns. Assist with picking/straightening up or arranging merchandise and housekeeping tasks (including restrooms) to ensure a neat, clean and safe working environment. Use proper handling techniques and equipment to ensure safe handling of merchandise. Follow store policies and procedures as well as general company policies. Be aware of possible damage, theft or safety hazards, reporting observations immediately to the store manager. Follows and enforces all company procedures. Perform other duties as requested. Program Participation
Collaborates with assigned CDP Case Manager throughout program participation. Attends and completes STEPS workshop. Job Specifications
Proficient in the English language Education/License Required
None Experience/Knowledge Required
Retail sales and/or cash handling experience strongly desired. Equipment Used
Ten-key or calculator, telephone, personal computer, printer, cash register. Pushcarts, boxes, barrels, hand trucks, z-racks, clothing/display racks, mattress carts. Aptitudes/Skills/Temperament
Ability to maintain self-control and work effectively with the public and co-workers. Ability to explain decisions or present information clearly regarding store policies. Ability to perform arithmetic and handle cash accurately. Ability to learn opening/closing procedures, cash register operation and related paperwork quickly and accurately. Ability to safely handle and move merchandise to minimize damage and hazards. Ability to understand and communicate clearly in English. Emotional Effort
Must have demonstrated experience and ability working in a dynamic, fast-paced and time-flexible environment. Job Setting
Work is performed on an enclosed storeroom floor. The area is heated and ventilated. Daily cleaning to control dust and dirt. Work area is generally quiet to moderate, with occasional radios/TVs. Physical Demands
Fast pace with constant standing and walking. Lifting up to 30 lbs maximum with frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs. Use equipment or assistance for heavier items. Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient. Responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at management discretion. Seniority level
