Overview Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Vice President/Chief of Public Safety or his designee provide emergency medical care to ensure professional medical coverage of students, during hours when the Student Health Center is closed, as well as provide coverage for faculty/staff and visitors of Providence College.

Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Provide emergency care to the student population on campus to include triage, treatment and stabilization of patients according to RIDPH protocols and Providence College EMS Policies and Procedures. (40%)

Complete all documentation as appropriate to all emergency calls. Report any and all incidents, problems, and unusual circumstances to the EMS Chief and the Office of Public Safety on-duty Supervisor when indicated. (10%)

Provide follow-up with students who required emergency care during the previous shift via phone call to address any questions or concerns the student may have (weekend shifts only). (5%)

MARGINAL DUTIES:

Maintain inventory of EMS supplies and ensure all response equipment is adequately stocked. (5%)

Participate in and assist with training requirements for Public Safety Officers to include CPR and First Aid Training. (5%)

Participate in and assist with training for the Faculty and Staff of Providence College as needed or requested. (5%)

Participate in training exercises, including but not limited to tabletop and full-scale practical exercises, as needed. (5%)

Provide EMS coverage for on-campus events as requested (College Events, Club Sports). (5%)

Be available to work at least 2 weekend shifts per month, as well as a minimum of 4 shifts per month. (Weekend shifts are considered, Friday night, Saturday day and night, Sunday day and night as well as Holidays.) (5%)

EMTs will provide support and guidance to any Student EMT Employees in the event they are covering any on-campus event. (5%)

Conduct monthly inspections of College AED Units and Naloxone deployments and assist Residence Life with similar training. (5%)

Perform all other duties as maybe required. (5%)

Education and Experience EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Rhode Island EMTA license.

Valid CPR certificate

Mental Health First Aid Certificate

Maintain a valid driver's license

Two to three years pre-hospital care required.

High school graduate or equivalent

Supplemental Information PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to safely operate college EMS vehicles for emergency response.

Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time

Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction

Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard

Communication skills using the spoken word

Ability to see within normal parameters

Ability to hear within normal range

Ability to move about

Ability to lift and move patients as required to provide pre-hospital care.

use of co-ed facilities and living quarters during the required tour of duty.
