Overview
Oversee the protection of the college community and the protection of private and institutional property on the campus. Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise all public safety officers and personnel under their command ensuring all are present and accounted for. Conduct a roll call at the beginning of each shift, and direct public safety functions under their command. May serve as incident commander on a critical incident. Ability to send out emergency messages. Monitor the activities and capabilities of their subordinates to ensure they are executing their duties and functions in a satisfactory manner that conforms to guidelines and directives in a professional, fair, and impartial manner. Evaluate subordinates and take remedial action when necessary. (65%) Supervise all Public Safety Officers assigned to special details and college events. Ensure that all personnel report to their post or detail and that all college policies are respected. (15%) Maintain public safety related equipment during their respective shift to include inspecting equipment including patrol vehicle components as related to safe and reliable operation. (10%) Supervise and direct the field training of all newly hired public safety officers under their command. Review and submit detailed, written progress reports to the FTO Coordinator. (5%) Subject to the approval of a higher authority, schedule work assignments, vacations, days off, training, etc., for personnel assigned to their respective shifts. (5%) MARGINAL DUTIES: Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from an accredited institution preferred. Three to five years of police, security, and/or military experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent oral and written communication experience required. First aid and CPR certifications preferred. Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) Valid driver's license required. Must be able to operate a vehicle and patrol campus Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Must successfully complete a background check, psychological testing, and pre-employment testing. Availability to work all shifts. Supplemental Information
