Overview Provides clinical and technical support to Foster/Adopt parents through intensive case management services, crisis management, home visits, weekly contact, monitoring of standards compliance, documentation, ongoing training and advocacy. The job requires sensitivity to the services population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement service delivery as part of Plan of Service meetings, including collaborative intake, transfers, and discharge planning.

Document meetings, contacts, case progress, progress notes, and plans of service; maintain regular communication with foster/adopt parents through calls and home visits.

Conduct home studies and assess potential foster/adopt parents to inform recommendations on their ability to provide care for children.

Attend community meetings, staffing, and other meetings for an assigned caseload of children in foster/adopt homes.

Lead monthly meetings with foster parents to review youth progress and assist in designing behavior interventions and responses to youth behavior.

Participate in inspections of foster homes to review licensing standards and document non-compliances.

Assist in ensuring compliance with agency and licensing standards and collaborate with other personnel and service providers to meet service goals.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; a Master’s degree in social work or related field is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency is required with a Bachelor’s degree.

Functional: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with youth, families, collaborating agencies, community professionals, and ACH Child and Family Services staff.

Working Conditions Position includes exposure to parents, guardians, and conservators as well as to youth with behavioral problems, including possible physical aggression. A personal vehicle is required for travel.

Confidentiality and Ethics The foster care/adoption specialist will have access to confidential records including youth files, foster care/adoption records, and foster/adopt parent information. Must maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to personnel records and client records.

Training and Supervision

Attend relevant in-service training offered at ACH to expand knowledge of services and the application of clinical skills.

Attend trainings such as TBRI, SAMA, first aid, HIPAA and CPR.

Attend at least one round of preservice trainings attended by our foster/adopt families to gain insight into their training needs.

Communicate regularly with supervisor and seek supervision when appropriate.

Attend training on trauma-informed care and attachment-focused parenting; implement home-based interventions based on these models.

Maintain certifications or licenses and pursue continuing education as needed.

Establish and adhere to a regular work schedule; notify supervisor properly when absent; complete assignments on time.

Maintain professional boundaries, manage work-related stress, and collaborate effectively with co-workers.

Adhere to agency policies and accreditation standards (e.g., COA, YFT, OCOK, state licensing); maintain client confidentiality and ethics.

Engage in professional development planning and teamwork to address strengths, limitations, and growth opportunities.

Understand job responsibilities in relation to other agency positions and address environmental, cultural, safety, and diversity considerations for foster parents and clients.

Identify strengths and competencies of foster parents, adopters, and clients; complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
