Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is seeking a Research Technician II for a contract assignment with a pharmaceutical services client in South San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities
Motivated scientist interested in using structural biology to understand the molecular mechanisms of large macromolecular complexes involved in DNA repair processes.
Protein purification, reconstitution, and structure determination of DNA-protein complexes using cryoEM.
Develop functional biochemical assays to assess and determine the mechanism of action of various multi-subunit protein complexes.
Think deeply about the biological problem, make significant intellectual contributions, and work closely with other team members.
Opportunity to pursue basic and drug-discovery questions in a well-resourced biotechnology environment.
Required Skills
BS/MS with 3-5 years of experience, or PhD with 0-2 years in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, or related discipline.
Hands‑on experience designing and optimizing purification of challenging protein targets (including complexes) for structural and/or functional studies.
Experience developing functional biochemical and biophysical assays.
Preferred Skills
Experience in cryoEM sample and grid preparation.
Experience with mammalian cell culture functional assays.
