Join to apply for the
Research Technician II
role at
Planet Pharma .
About the Department: The Department of Structural Biology within Protein Sciences is a world‑leading research and drug discovery organization focusing on cutting‑edge biomedical questions. We pursue challenging and important problems that aim to uncover fundamental biological mechanisms that would advance our understanding of human physiology in health and disease.
We are fully equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including a cryo‑electron microscopy suite with two Titan Krios and two Glacios electron microscopes, among other essential tools for structural biology workflows.
Opportunity We are seeking a motivated scientist interested in using structural biology to understand the molecular mechanisms of large macromolecular complexes involved in DNA repair processes. The role involves protein purification, reconstitution, and structure determination of DNA–protein complexes using cryo‑EM. You will also help develop functional biochemical assays to assess the mechanism of action of various multi‑subunit protein complexes. Your work will be deeply connected with the biological problem and will contribute significantly to the chosen research project.
Responsibilities
Protein purification and reconstitution of challenging protein targets, including multi‑subunit complexes.
Preparation of cryo‑EM samples and grid optimization for high‑resolution structure determination.
Designing functional biochemical and biophysical assays to evaluate complex activity.
Collaborating closely with team members to integrate structural data with functional insights.
Analyzing data and contributing to scientific publications and presentations.
Qualifications
BS/MS with 3‑5 years of experience or PhD with 0‑2 years of experience in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, or a related discipline.
Hands‑on experience designing and optimizing purification of challenging protein targets for structural or functional studies.
Development of functional biochemical and biophysical assays.
Experience in cryo‑EM sample and grid preparation (beneficial).
Experience with mammalian cell culture functional assays (beneficial).
Benefits & Compensation
Competitive pay rate: $25‑32 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Opportunities to publish findings and contribute to drug‑discovery questions.
Access to world‑leading biotechnology resources and collaborative environment.
Fast‑paced, stimulating, and highly collaborative research setting.
The Planet Group of Companies is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
