Position Summary The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) and the Lee J. Styslinger Jr. College of Engineering at The University of Alabama (UA) invite applications for an Assistant Professor position in the area of Transportation Engineering.
Detailed Position Information CCEE and the Styslinger College of Engineering (SCoE) at UA invite applications for multiple tenure‑track faculty positions within the CCEE department. This posting is specific for candidates applying at the rank of tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering.
Applicants should have a strong record of scholarly productivity and impact in Transportation Engineering or related fields. The department seeks faculty who can expand research scope and contribute to teaching, research, and service.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop and lead a productive research group with extramural funding potential. Collaboration with existing faculty and colleagues across UA is desirable.
Teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level, including support of core degree programs, is expected. Candidates should also support a collegial and inclusive academic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in Architectural, Civil, Construction, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated record of prior research work and significant scholarly publications.
Demonstrated interest or record in engineering education and professional service in areas of specialization.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Potential to construct and sustain a quality research program.
Potential for excellent teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
Applicants must also meet all university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Preferred Qualifications
High‑quality research recognized nationally or internationally.
Scholarship in architectural, civil, construction, environmental engineering, or closely related field with both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Post‑doctoral experience or other similar post‑graduate experience.
Progress toward or demonstrated interest in professional licensure or certification (FE or PE).
Exceptional collegial, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
