This posting is specific for candidates applying for a position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor in Water Resources Engineering. This posting notes that positions are also available at the Associate rank. Applicants with appropriate experience and a strong record of scholarly productivity in other research areas may apply through a related posting for Full Professor. The CCEE department seeks candidates in Water Resources Engineering (including field hydrology, water observing technologies, and hydroinformatics). Candidates should have research interests in field hydrology, water observation systems, and hydroinformatics aligned with the Alabama Water Institute (AWI) and CIROH. Desired research areas include: (1) remote sensing and water observing technologies; (2) hydrologic information systems and hydroinformatics; (3) hydrologic data management, visualization, analytics, and web applications; and (4) large-domain hydrologic modeling. UA hosts several water-related institutes and centers and offers opportunities for collaboration with federal facilities located on campus, such as the National Water Center and the US Geological Survey’s Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility. The department emphasizes teaching and research excellence and strong collaboration within the college and university. The CCEE Department offers ABET/EAC accredited B.S. degrees in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Environmental Engineering, with minors in Architectural, Civil, Construction, Environmental and Water Resources, Transportation, and Structural Engineering. The undergraduate programs enroll nearly 800 students. Graduate programs include MS and PhD in Civil Engineering and MS in Environmental Engineering, with about 120 graduate students overall. The Department and College emphasize teaching, research, and service as core missions. Candidates should demonstrate potential to develop, lead, and fund a productive research program, and collaborate with existing faculty within CCEE and across the campus. Candidates should demonstrate ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to accreditation-supported courses. The University values collegiality and a supportive community. Appointments at UA are based on the needs of academic programs and on excellence in teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship. Minimum Qualifications
