In this role, you will participate in engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities. The HVAC Team is engaged in the following areas: Design and Construction Activities Project Delivery Methods – Traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build Facility Types – Power Generation buildings, Substations, Oil & Gas structures and Energy Storage buildings Systems – HVAC and Plumbing Areas – Power Generation Hall, Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, Pump Areas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, Flammable & Combustible Liquids Storage Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Studies Energy Audit/Efficiency - Engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations Code Review/Application - Facility review for code compliance Sustainable Design/LEED - Application of sustainable strategies Key Responsibilities
The
Mechanical Buildings Design Group
provides HVAC and plumbing solutions across Black & Veatch’s Government & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial sectors. In this role, you will work on exciting projects across the globe, from small community improvements to large-scale Mega Projects, contributing to infrastructure growth and development while pursuing your own development. The BV Operations framework supports mobility to where your skills are needed and fosters a collaborative and innovative culture. Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of the following areas: NFPA standards Computer generated HVAC heat loads, energy modeling and HVAC equipment sizing Technical submittal reviewing process and bid reviewing process Microsoft Office Suite Bluebeam Revu LEED AP certification and experience obtaining LEED certification for industrial buildings Extensive experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers (preferred) International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards ASPE design handbooks SMACNA Standards Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws. Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary. Certifications

Office environment; may require prolonged sitting and computer use, with attention to detail. Site visits may include physical tasks such as crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods.
