Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch’s 3 market sectors – Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. In this role, you will be engaged with exciting projects across the globe. From small community improvements to grand-scale Mega Projects, you will be Building a World of Difference through infrastructure growth and development while learning and focusing on your own individual development. The foundation of BV Operations provides the ability to move where your skills are needed and allows for a collaborative and innovative culture offering greater challenges and career development opportunities. Projects involve engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems in various facility types, including: Power Generation buildings, Substations, Oil & Gas structures and Energy Storage buildings Systems: HVAC and Plumbing Areas: Power Generation Hall, Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, Pump Areas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, Flammable & Combustible Liquids Storage Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Studies Energy studies overview and code compliance considerations are part of the work: Energy Audit/Efficiency – Engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations Code Review/Application – Facility review for code compliance Sustainable Design/LEED – Application of sustainable strategies Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search, as applicable). Holds active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries. Certifications
Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries. Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of NFPA standards Computer generated HVAC heat loads, energy modeling and equipment sizing Technical submittal reviewing process & bid reviewing process Microsoft Office Suite Bluebeam Revu LEED AP certified professional with LEED certification experience for industrial buildings Extensive experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards ASPE design handbooks SMACNA Standards Work Environment and Schedule
Office environment; may include site visits with physical tasks such as crouching, grasping, walking Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, based on manager discretion, performance, and assignments Salary and Benefits
