Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants at Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care, performing radiologic examinations, applying ionizing radiation, and supporting diagnostic processes. The RT performs and analyzes patient X-rays, reports results, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the urgent care centers.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Medical Providers and Assistants for patient care management, organization, and communication.
Perform x‑ray services, including positioning patients correctly, applying x‑ray energy, and ensuring quality images for patients of all ages.
Prepare patients for examination, verify information, conduct basic vital signs, and elevate critical cases.
Assist with point‑of‑care testing, and aid providers with patient education and procedural explanations.
Document and maintain medical records, scan charts, and manage imaging archives.
Conduct equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, and quality assurance checks.
Support clinic operations, including coordination of order sets, sample handling, and workflow optimization.
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, maintaining ALARA principles.
Essential Functions
Responsible for x‑ray services as needed.
Under provider direction, perform x‑ray services for patients from newborn to elderly.
Ensure correct patient positioning and protection during use.
Push patient in a wheelchair when required.
Patient Preparation & Rooming
Inform technical staff of patient flow.
Prepare patients for examination: interview to verify information, record medical history, confirm purpose.
Take preliminary vital signs.
Escalate critical cases to provider.
Perform point‑of‑care testing when needed.
Administrative & QA Responsibilities
Maintain medical records and scanning charts.
Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up.
Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration.
Maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets.
Optional/Additional Responsibilities
Collaborate with ordering provider to determine best procedures or views.
Explain procedures to patients and ensure comfort and safety.
Optimal image production and equipment maintenance.
Perform routine maintenance and manage supplies.
Documentation and image management.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma required.
ARRT certification required.
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
ARRT registration required at time of hire.
