ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST I
Filing Of Application

– From 12:01 A.M. on Friday, October 31, 2025 until 11:59 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Applications will not be accepted after 11:59 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Salary
– The prevailing salary for this position is $15.33 - $28.78 per hour.
Examination Information
– Experience evaluation and examination details as per announcement.
Example Duties
Enter-level position performing environmental compliance duties related to air pollution permits.
Review application and development of Permits To Install (PTIs) and Permits to Operate (PTOs).
Determine compliance with federal, state, and local air regulations.
Write technical reports.
Prepare Title V and FESOP permits as required.
Perform other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, or any other science-related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
Basic knowledge of air pollution as it relates to permit issues.
Residency Credit
– In accordance with the Ordinances of the City of Cleveland, a person who has had residence in the City of Cleveland for at least one year at the time of filing a Civil Service application, shall, if a passing grade on the written examination is attained, have ten (10) points added to his/her passing score.
Veterans’ Preference
– Veterans' preference will be awarded when applicable to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F, and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing the application.
