Responsibilities
Review the application and development of Permits To Install (PTIs) and Permits To Operate (PTOs).
Determine compliance with federal, state, and local air regulations.
Write technical reports.
Prepare Title V and FESOP permits as required.
Perform other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, or another science‑related field from an accredited four‑year college or university.
Basic knowledge of air pollution as it relates to permit issues.
Exam Information The application period is from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Applications must be submitted electronically through the City of Cleveland’s website:
www.governmentjobs.com/careers/cleveland . Employers do not accept applications after 11:59 p.m. on November 13, 2025.
Salary The prevailing salary for this position is $15.33 – $28.78 per hour as established by ordinance of the City of Cleveland Council.
Residency Credit Individuals who have had their primary residence in the City of Cleveland for at least one year at the time of filing a Civil Service application may receive ten (10) residency points added to their passing score, if a passing grade is attained on the written examination. To substantiate the claim, applicants must upload legible copies of a signed and notarized residency affidavit available on the City’s website.
Veterans’ Preference Veterans' preference may be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 at the time of filing is required. Honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions earns an additional five (5) points; more than 15% service‑connected disability earns ten (10) points.
