Overview
Prairie Engineers, P.C. is seeking an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor/Hydrographer to join our team. This position includes both field and office assignments and will require extensive travel to locations throughout the U.S. with occasional international travel possible. This isn't an easy position; we work long days in sometimes harsh conditions as well as remote locations. This position will be full-time with paid travel expenses, per diem for meals, and available to be filled in several of our offices. Safe operation of small motor vessels in a variety of inland lakes and river environments and occasionally in nearcoastal waters. Lead and perform hydrographic surveys using HYPACK software and singlebeam, multibeam, sidescan sonar, subbottom profiler, magnetometer, and other sensors and methods along with GPS positioning, LiDAR, and various Inertial Motion Sensors. Perform and check office surveys including reduction of hydrographic surveys using HYPACK and other software, performing least squares and compass rule computations, and volume and area calculations. Travel on short notice and work safely in various locations and all types of weather conditions. What You Need
Experience: 6+ years performing hydrographic surveys or 4+ years as a surveyor with a strong desire to expand expertise, demonstrated by willingness to take hydrographic survey coursework outside of working hours Travel: Willingness to travel within the United States to meet project requirements Communication: Good verbal and written skills Safety: A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record How You Align

Education: Bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, hydrography, or a related science field Certification: NSPS/THSOA Certification as a Hydrographer or Certified Survey Technician Licensure: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or SurveyorinTraining (SIT) More Experience: Field control, topographic, and boundary surveys and CADD/GIS experience What You Will Do
