Hydrographic Surveyor/Hydrographer

This position includes both field and office assignments and will require extensive travel to locations throughout the U.S. with occasional international travel possible. What you Need: Experience: 6+ years performing hydrographic surveys or 4+ years as a surveyor with a strong desire to expand expertise as demonstrated by the willingness to take hydrographic survey coursework outside of working hours Travel: Willingness to travel within the United States to meet project requirements Communication: Good verbal and written skills Safety: A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record How you Align: People Focused: Professional, respectful, and team-oriented, with a strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate internally and externally Can Do Attitude: Positively engages with challenges, facilitates problem-solving, and takes initiative to deliver solutions Responsive: Communicates openly, proactively, and promptly, with excellent verbal and written communication skills What you can Add: Education: Bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, hydrography, or a related science field Certification: NSPS/THSOA Certification as a Hydrographer or Certified Survey Technician Licensure: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) More Experience: Field control, topographic, and boundary surveys and CADD/GIS experience What you will Do: Safe operation of small motor vessels in a variety of inland lakes and river environments and occasionally in near-coastal waters. Lead and perform hydrographic surveys using HYPACK software and single-beam, multi-beam, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, and other state-of-the-art sensors and methods along with GPS positioning, LiDAR, and various Inertial Motion Sensors. Perform and check office surveys including reduction of hydrographic surveys using HYPACK and other software, performing least squared and compass rule computations, and volume and area calculations. Travel, often on short notice, and work safely in various locations and all types of weather conditions. Salary range $60,000-$120,000 determined by education, experience, licensure, and knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.
