Mobile Diesel Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The developer continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful technician complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.

DUTIES

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas & diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using hand tools, instruments, and test devices.

Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.

Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate & evaluate alternatives.

Independently manage parts inventory on company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre/post‑trip inspections.

Work with and listen to clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.

Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work and allocating time effectively.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.

Document all work on repair orders using company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application.

Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.

Work independently and manage daily schedule.

Maintain a high level of productivity within or close to standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.

Communicate with management and support via email or phone for approvals, purchase orders, and discussion of repair findings.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Maintain company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post‑trip inspections.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or equivalent combination).

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for required duties.

Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.

Must undergo DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

Current, valid DOT medical card with at least four (4) months remaining (or DOT physical if less).

Must be at least 21 years old.

Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a driver qualification file.

USD 28.70 – $43.03 per hour.

COMPENSATION Hourly base pay rate is $28.70 – $43.03/hour, varying by location and candidate qualifications. Position may be eligible for additional compensation such as commission and/or incentive programs.

TIME OFF & HOLIDAY POLICY Eligible for a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off each month and seven paid holidays. May receive additional paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, volunteer time, military leave, and parental leave.
