Job Summary The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in advancing DISA's innovative HPSA technology by designing, testing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components. This position focuses on ensuring mechanical integrity, improving product reliability, and supporting scale-up from prototype to field deployment. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and partners on R&D, product development, and commercialization efforts. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic start‑up environment, contributing across multiple projects and adapting to evolving technologies.
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
0-5 years of experience in product design, development, and testing preferred (mining, oilfield services, or related industries)
Supervisor Engineering Manager, unless otherwise designated.
Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and ensure the quality and reliability of components, focusing on mechanical integrity and longevity
Lead research and development initiatives aimed at product scale-up and enhancement
Apply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to reduce complexity, costs, and lead times
Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings of components, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards
Perform structural analysis of components and process skids to ensure safety and functionality
Conduct wear testing of components, recommend design/materials improvements, and validate durability
Investigate component failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, consultants, and strategic partners for product R&D and optimization
Provide technical expertise in mechanical design, materials selection, and product testing
Ensure products and components meet industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols
Participate in customer engagements, site visits, and technical presentations as required
Support continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and environmental performance
Stay current with emerging mechanical and materials technologies relevant to mining, remediation, and resource recovery
Abide by all policies and procedures established by DISA
Attend and participate in all required safety trainings
Assist with any task required by the direct supervisor
Requirements Required Skills
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science, and wear testing methodologies
Hands‑on experience with product testing, structural analysis, and mechanical system troubleshooting
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; experience with root cause analysis and data‑driven solutions
Ability to apply DFM principles to optimize manufacturability and scalability
Proficiency with engineering software (e.g., Aspen, MATLAB, Minitab, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to manage multiple projects effectively
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients
Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects
Collaborate effectively as part of a team, supporting shared goals and fostering positive relationships
Adapt to dynamic environments and identify solutions to challenges with flexibility and problem‑solving skills
Maintain professionalism with high attention to detail, reliability, accountability, and accuracy in all work deliverables
Uphold and demonstrate DISA's Values of Dedication, Innovation, Sustainability, and Accelerate Change
Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA/MSHA and company safety standards
Be a valid U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States
Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Must be able to interact with people and technology while either standing or sitting
To best service our customers, all employees must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to travel up to 25%
Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as typing
